My own sweet boy said something very similar to me recently… that my routine reminders to do this or that or pick up this or put that away are what he hears. I knew he was right :-( . Thank you to our dear boys who can speak clearly and respectfully and say what we need to hear.

Another Robert Dad-ism… the first night we babysat Madi Lou, you gave us a full-page description of Madi’s dinner, after-dinner, pre-bedtime, and bedtime routines. Picking out a sippy cup, getting ice for the sippy cup, turning out lights in each room along the way to her room… All of these were written down by Robert. (Fortunately, we were around enough Friday nights to witness much of it first-hand, lol!)

That said volumes about Robert as a dad… and later the three-page note from both of you about full day & night routines when we stayed with madi when Jack was born. We learned so much about how to be parents from the time we spent with a new and growing McCracken family…

I am really sorry that Jack is sick and feeling every bit of a horrible case of strep! I have to admit, I was laughing through the whole story which can only mean I totally identify with your day. While it’s been a some time since my kids needed me in this way, I remember too clearly adventureous days like this. And after my peditrician decided to move her office from the north side of town to the 610 Loop @ TC Jester, we added a 45 – 60 minute drive each way. Even when the kids were a little older and could be left alone after the doctor visit, I had already used up most of the day just getting them to the doctor, stopping at the pharmacy for meds, grabbing something for them to eat and then back home…whew!
And every moment of being a mom, always and forever worth it.
Thanks for the laugh and the reminder of how much I love being a mom!
