Last night I spoke at a Moms Group. A dear friend of mine, who usually leads the group, is going through a very difficult time. Her husband is facing a serious illness and she needed to be with him, so I stepped in to lead the Moms Group. Her situation got me thinking about who I would call to handle different things when I was in crisis... and that is where my inspiration came from for the … [Read more...] about In case of emergency- Break seal
Madi is taking a Skills For Living class this semester at her middle school. They will tackle, cooking, sewing, caring for a flour sack "baby" as well as other fun projects that will help equip her for "living". I am excited to see what she learns. I still remember taking my Home Ec class in middle school and sewing a pink pig pillow and burning chocolate chip cookies! ha.. I know that she … [Read more...] about Skills for Living
I moved to Texas in the summer of 1990. As many of you know, I am originally from the Chicago area and went on to spend four years in college at Marquette University in Wisconsin. Growing up, I was always cold! When I moved to Houston it was hot. Very hot. You know, TEXAS HOT! I didn’t mind at all. I hate to be cold! Hate it, Hate it, Hate it. As a matter of fact I am sitting … [Read more...] about “Baby it’s cold outside!”
I was blessed to be able to lead a new small group experience at our church, www.northwoods.org, this past fall. The class was called Contagious Joy. While cleaning out my desk this weekend I found some of my notes and wanted to share a bit. I recently read a story … [Read more...] about Abundance – Master List

However, now it’s just not an option. Do you realize it is in the 30’s here in Houston! I am so cold my toes are numb, the landscaping is frozen, the wind is howling, the trees are bare, everyone is … [Read more...] about New Years Resolutions? Nope, too cold!
Recently I sacrificed a Saturday night with my family to attend a seminar on Raising Boys. I was so tired and it was an unusually packed weekend, so I really debated on whether or not I should actually go. Thankfully, I chose correctly and went. I learned a lot of things that night from the authors of the book Wild Things, The Art of Nurturing Boys, by Stephen James & David Thomas … [Read more...] about A Valuable Lesson
Recently I have seen some reruns of Ashton Kutcher's show, Punk'd. As you may already know, we are one of the dinosaur families without any kind of cable, so our late night TV is somewhat limited! Have you seen it? It's sort of like Candid Camera, but instead of something silly or funny, the show usually puts the celebrity in an awkward, slightly victim roll. I think Robert kind of enjoyed … [Read more...] about Don’t Get Punk’d
