Last week in church one of our members was speaking to our congregation and he used this quote by Jim Valvano, (Coach of North Carolina State U 1980-1990).
“To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special.”
I have thought about this quote every day, because I realized that on most days I do laugh (because my kids are so darn funny), I think (because I am constantly trying to learn something new) and I cry. I cry because I am an extremely sensitive and emotional girl. I don’t cry because I’m sad, I cry because I witness things that are so powerful, so beautiful that it moves my soul to tears.
This week I cried because a dear friend’s sister and husband welcomed their newly adopted brand new baby into their lives after waiting for him for nearly 20 years! My soul over flowed with joy for them and so did the tears.
Life can be tough! That’s one heck of a truth! There is a lot of stress out there! Another truth. So this week our challenge to move us from stressed to blessed is to be proactive to do these 3 things daily. Get creative… read some sappy hallmark cards, watch youtube clips, read an article that moves you to think…
Your challenge is a big one. EVERY day this week!!!! 1. Laugh 2. Cry 3. Think
