This week y our challenge is to be mindful of who is in your tribe; your family; your support group; your friend circle… So often when our minds are full we forget to really see and hear and be WITH those we love the most. Those we laugh with the most. Those who truly bless us. Yes, this week let’s be mindful of our Friend-Time. Did you know that friendships keep us healthier, happier, less-stressed and help us live longer. So often as a very busy mom, I find that I am in the throes of every day family life, schedules and chaos…then I realize how long it’s been since I had one of my Friday Lunch Dates or hit the movies with a girlfriend. It’s hard to put ourselves on our own to-do list, and I know that is true with so many women, we make sure our kids have play dates but we don’t schedule hardly any for ourselves.
This week your challenge is to get out there and have some buddy-time. Call an old friend and visit for hours on the phone, or call a new friend and meet for coffee. Schedule a happy hour or meet for fro-yo. Get out of your own way and put some girlfriend time on your calendar! Watch your mood shift and your spirits lift and the laughter flow… or cry together over struggles and difficulties…share. You are not alone.
If you’re currently lacking some friends in your life, make a point now to get involved with some new activities. Before long you’ll not only feel better emotionally having supportive people in your life, but your health may improve as well.
