No, i’m not a drunk. haha. Well maybe I am a bit too intoxicated by my smart phone! I have a love/hate with it. I hate that I love it so much. haha. Seriously though, this year our family will be doing Detox Tuesdays. That means that all cellular or iproducts are off limits from 5-10 p.m.!!! We are all arguing over who this will be hardest for! The kids say me. I say my husband. My husband says the kids.
I actually think it will be hard for all of us, at first. But I do know that this summer when we had Detox Sunday’s occasionally, we all enJOYed the break! (although I don’t think anyone would admit it!)
I just find that more and more, I look up to see all of us hanging out together…but then see we are all totally engaged in our little smart devices. It’s so embarrassing! I always think that if we were on a reality show and being taped, I’d be ashamed! But on the other hand, I run my businesses virtually, so I”m always checking in and doing customer support. And of course, I have to play my words with friends. Oh, and I must look at the cute instragram photos my nieces and nephews are always posting.
yep. I’m an addict! and I hate it!
My friend K sent me an email this week that her hubs sent her:
Researchers are saying that we check our mobile devices every four minutes. That seems like an inaccurate number to me. I think the real number is more like every thirty seconds. Or maybe it’s not even a number. For some, I think the frequency is more like always. Checking smart phones is an addiction.
This will be phase one of our detoxing… at a later date, I hope to instigate no phone zones at different times. When we go out to eat. Or we are playing games etc. It’s not going to be easy, but I think this fight is one I’m willing to push through. I promise to report a follow up soon on how these Detox Tuesday’s go… wish us luck and please don’t give up on me if I don’t play my word on wwf until late Tuesday night!
update… my friend AMQS sent me this video proof that we are doing detox for the right reasons!!! love this. http://www.artthesystem.com/2013/12/after-i-saw-this-i-put-down-my-phone.html
