When I first met Robert and fell in love, I KNEW with all my heart he was the perfect match for me! I KNEW he would be the most amazing, loving, wonderful husband. What I didn’t know, and I guess no wife ever ever knows, is what kind of father he might be someday. Actually when we met, we had talked about not having kids, but maybe doing foster care. I didn’t really think I could have babies because of my scoliosis history, so I always just assumed I’d get kids another way. Robert was the first man I dated who agreed with me (or so I thought…many years later, he told me he always wanted kids and knew I would too!- what a gamble! lol).
Well, sure enough, GOD agreed with Robert and soon I was pregnant. This is when I realized what kind of Father my amazing husband would be. He went to EVERY single one of my pregnancy dr. appointments! He went to every single dr. appt. of Madi’s first year. He was in “charge” of bath time for our little one and did so with love and laughter and joy. He did bedtime stories, naps and playtime. He changed diapers, went on walks, and took care of her when I was off doing Pampered Chef shows.
Then came pregnancy number 2 and step up he did! He took care of this crazy prego lady, the sweet toddler girl and his soon to be son. Again, every dr. appointment. Diapers, naps, play, stories, tickling, and more. This man amazed me. I had never known such a dedicated and loving man to his kiddos.
He has continued to be the most impressive dad. He never missed a dance recital, sports game. He has read bedtime stories for years and even added in some bedtime songs. He continues to give all of his heart to our children. He is a model of patience, kindness, respect, and love. He teaches them courage, responsibility, faith and generosity.
I think fatherhood is a gamble. You just never know. Well, I certainly won the big prize with this one. I am so proud of my husband and am beyond blessed by the father he is to our 2 wonderful children. Happy Father’s Day babe! You’re the best!
