Today is day 3 at our wonderful VBS (Vacation Bible School) at Northwoods Presbyterian Church. Today I was inspired by the freedom of friendships forming. Today I found God’s love being shared openly with all of the new relationships forming in faith!
I spent the day watching friendships forming right before my eyes. On Monday when the kids arrive they are a little nervous and don’t know a lot of people in their class. On Tuesday, they arrive with bigger smiles and joyful anticipation, but on Wednesday, it’s downright laughter, high fives and hugs. By now the kids have found their comfort with the new experience. They know each others names and have begun new friendships. They know their teachers, helpers, and volunteers.
The noise level goes up as does the singing, dancing, praying, and laughter. I love how open kids are to new friendships. It doesn’t matter where you came from, what color you are, what church or school you attend or if you like marshmallows…
I think we can learn from our kids. Everywhere we go there are relationships to build and God’s love to share. If we are open to new friendships and can put our fears aside, we will be blessed with friends, fun, and new experiences. I can’t wait to see them all again tomorrow.
