No, it’s not torture! No t’s not Joy… it’s…..BALANCE! So far this summer has been cray cray! (crazy!) If you read my last blog you saw a snipit of the schedule we’ve had for a week or two. Last night while at a Crafting Night event, I decided it was time to check back in with ME. I decided to make a dream board..vision board..goals board etc. I immediately found myself picking blue as my background, which I found interesting. As usually I pick bright colors like yellow or red. But this summer I want serene. I want peace. I want soft…so blue seemed to be appropriate. Then I started cutting words out of magazines while I visited with my crafting buddies. It was a wonderful night. The conversations were fulfilling. The laughter was relieving. The friendships were welcoming.
Let me step back for a moment. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of turtles crossing the road. Actually, I have seen them mid road. I have been wondering if that was a sign for me to SLOW DOWN this summer. My family is normally so good at taking these on the slow side. We spend A LOT of time with the 4 of us hanging out. But so far this summer, that has not been the case. So the Turtle was a good signal for me…
Ok, back to my board. As I talked and listened throughout the night, I just kept cutting, cutting, cutting. When I finally looked at my words, I giggled. My subconscious was definitely sending me a message!
Another interesting thing I noticed… Usually when I make my boards there are a combo of pictures and words. But this one was simply words. I also usually glue them on in all sorts of random ways, this one, however, seems to be in a neat order. When I was done, I was surprised to see how many times the word balance and simplify showed up! I love it!
That is definitely what I want to do this summer. Balance our schedules, simplify our lives and increase our JOY! When I finished I felt like it was missing a little something and that’s when the orange eclipsed paper showed up~
Making dream boards is truly one of my favorite things to do. I do it regularly. My kids do it regularly. I invite my friends to do it regularly~ Recently when looking at an older one, I realized I have completed all of the “goals” that were on that board. These boards WORK! You MUST know what you are looking for in order to make your way to it! These boards are a small sample of that process. We create our lives! What is on your summer 2012 dream board? Do share!
