What a wonderful month April is. The wild flowers are in full bloom, the windows are open, the days are longer and the kids are happier. We really enjoy spring here in Spring, Texas. This month I wanted to focus on laughter. I have chosen to intentionally add more laughter into my life and wanted to challenge you to do the same. Do you know that there are actually laughter therapists? Isn’t that interesting? Thankfully, I don’t need a therapist to laugh, I have two wacky children and a silly, wonderful husband!
Recently, at a women’s group I led, I asked the women if they think they laugh enough. Many said they wished they laughed more at home. I started thinking about that and wondered how we can do that. As moms, we have so much responsibility and so much to take care of all the time. Yet, surely we can find some way to lighten the load and laugh more. Is this something you need to work on?
What would your kids say if you asked them “Does Mommy laugh a lot?” If you don’t like the answer, ask yourself what you can do to find more laughter. Perhaps read a funny book, watch a funny TV show, talk to a funny friend. If you want to laugh more, start first by faking it. Look in the mirror and smile until you feel the joy arise. Start a big fake belly laugh with the kids at dinner and see what follows. The greatest thing about laughter is that it is contagious! Therefore, what may start as fake, will probably lead to the real thing! Total laughter, total joy, total happiness.
This month intentionally call more laughter into your life! When something goes wrong, just start laughing and know it will get better.
Try it and let this be the spring that is the most JOY-FULL and laugh, laugh, laugh.
