The apple pie is burning, there are 27 pairs of shoes by the back door that no one has put away, the car needs to be packed, you haven’t “put on your face”, the dog had an accident, little Johnny stuck a button in his nose and your mother-in-law is at the front door.
Let’s face it…holidays are not always worthy of a “Southern Living” photo shoot. It can get down right crazy! We all want to express our thankfulness during November but heavens to betsy…
This week I challenge you to have an “attitude of gratitude.” Of course it’s easy to be grateful when everything is going smoothly, but the real challenge is being grateful in the midst of discord, sadness, busyness, frustration, exhaustion, etc. To have an attitude of gratitude, it comes down to practice. You have to find small things to be thankful for and shift your awareness from your frustration to moments of gratefulness.
Let’s give it another try…
The stove is working, there are happy feet running around, the car is paid off, your skin is “breathing”, your husband knows where the tweezers are stored, and thank god your mother-in-law loves dogs!
Give it a try! I’ll be checking in with you this week as we prepare for Thanksgiving!
