Here we are at Week 10 of our 15 Week Challenge – From Stressed to Blessed. This week we celebrate Thanksgiving. It seems like your challenge would be something about “being thankful”, right? Well, hopefully you are already pondering all that you are thankful for. This week as we focus on family, food and friends, I’d like to challenge you to something bigger. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but the holiday season can be one of the loneliest seasons for many… I recently saw this posted on my friend’s fb page:
Some thoughts as we enter the holiday season…It is important to remember that not everyone is surrounded by large wonderful families. Some of us have problems during the holidays and some of us are overcome with great sadness when we remember the loved ones who are not with us. And many people have no one to spend these times with and are besieged by loneliness. We all need caring, loving thoughts right now.
I have been haunted by this for a few weeks now… so this week your challenge is to REACH OUT & TOUCH SOMEONE. I know you are busy… but could you find a little time to make this thanksgiving week matter for someone else?
- Donate to a charity
- Sponsor another family’s holiday dinner
- Invite a friend over to join you for a holiday meal
- Make a basket full of fun little foods, a card and a few other nice items, like toiletries, gum, a scarf etc and give to someone struggling
- Write a letter to your mail carrier
- Write a letter to a soldier
- Visit the elderly
These are just a few ideas… I know my family will be doing Meals On Wheels on Thanksgiving morning as is our tradition. Spreading a little cheer where we can. I hope you will join me on this important challenge this week and figure out a way YOU can reach out and touch SOMEONE else!
