Here we are just a few moments before Christmas day. I am posting our last challenge and also using this opportunity to wish each of you Merry Christmas and a joy filled new year. More on that in a minute…
Today’s final challenge seems like a challenge alrighty. Here we are in the final days before the busiest holiday of the year. A time where we should be reflecting and anticipating…The Advent season teaches us Hope, Peace, Joy & Love…but we are so busy wrapping, shopping, baking, cleaning, mailing, preparing, stressing that we sometimes miss the whole true celebration.
So, now that it’s pretty much here, and you’ve done all that you can do…take a few moments, minutes, days and DIAL it DOWN a bit. That’s right. Stop. slow down… relax…listen to the kids laughter….watch the lights on the tree twinkle…sing with the music on the radio…inhale the yummy smells in the kitchen…I recently read this holiday intervention – pause. listen to a song without multitasking and relax every cell into the music as if the song wer playing from the inside of you.
just. slow. down. sit on the floor with the kids. pull out a puzzle. order in chinese food tonight and relish that the kitchen is still clean afterwards.
Now that the kids are out of school we find ourselves pulled a little tighter… here’s one way we dialed it down here at our house. We just finished eating dinner and were sitting at the table visiting. I was marveling at the fact that my kids are so grown. Taller than me. Where did my little ones go? Then I had an idea. A wonderful, marvelous, crazy idea 🙂 Let’s play Hide & Seek. They all looked at me, like, “whaaat?” I was sure I’d have to talk my husband into it, but NO. Everyone was ready and game! We spent the next hour playing hide and go seek. YES! a 11, 13, 42 & 43 year old. It was sooo much fun! We all laughed and laughed and enjoyed the simplicity of this family time together.
We dialed it down. Since then, I have been consciously working at enjoying the moment and trying to keep things as simple as possible. My challenge to you, is to do the same. Let me know what creative ways you come up with dialing it down in your life.
and….Merry Christmas to ALL!
