Today I did NOTHING! Well half of the day, anyways. Not A Thing!!! I love Wednesdays because it’s usually my day “off”. I give myself permission to stay in my pajamas until at least noon. I don’t answer the phone. I don’t reply to email. I don’t post on facebook.
At noon, I finally got up and got ready for the day. I was singing to my IPOD and enjoying my “me” time. After I was showered and clothed I made a yummy lunch then headed out to run my errands. On my way back home I started daydreaming about all the things I love to do but am often too busy for… I decided to list a few…
- Finish reading the novels that are sitting on my night stand.
- Watch great chick flicks
- Go for long bike rides
- Take a jewelry class
- Update my dream board
- Finish a blanket I started knitting over a year ago.
- Plant lots of flowers in my flowerbed.
- Take long walks with my family.
One of my favorite authors call these “soul treats” – the things we do that add depth, richness, fun, and meaning to our lives. Too often they get pushed to the back burner because emails, phone calls, endless commitments, and grown-up responsibilities always seem far more important.
This just may be one of your hardest challenges if you are not good at finding time for YOU. So often as women, we put everyone and everything else ahead of our own needs. This week your challenge is FIRST to make a list of your “Soul Treats” and then SECOND, pick at least ONE to treat yourself to this week! Somewhere in the next 7 days your challenge is to find time to really feed your soul…whether it be a short time or a long, luxuriously lazy time… something that refuels YOU!!
Share some of your “soul Treats” here with us! Maybe give others some great ideas! Good Luck.
