Ok, are you thinking… “what is THIS blog about???” Bathroom Beauty??? huh? It’s not what you think.
Today I was getting ready for work and thinking about this latest hair cut thing that I got myself into. I look in the mirror and YOWSA who is this lady staring back. The good thing is my hair grows fast, and what the heck, I’ve always wanted to try the pixie thing, so whatever. Then I pulled out my hairdryer and smiled a little. I used to have the traditional black and boring hairdryer that we probably all have, but recently on a shopping spree with my daughter I found this GREAT bright and cheerful one. Look at all of the colorful polkadots. Not only is it cute, but it works really great. So now every morning whether I realize it or not, I smile a little when it’s blow dry time.
Then I looked back into the mirror, and smiled again. Not because of the hair, I assure you that, but because of the little Lego JOY that my kids made me years back. It sits right on the little ledge of my mirror and again, whether I realize it or not, it makes me smile. As I looked around the room, I started to see that actually my makeup area was really quite filled with JOY.
The beauty of it is, that each time I go to “fix” my hair or makeup, I am surrounded by things that bring me pleasure. I enjoy the space. A prominent Feng Shui principal is: Everything your eyes land on should bring you beauty or pleasure.
My challenge to you is, look around your personal space and see if you might be able to perk it up a little with things that bring YOU joy. Then, each time you go into your room to make yourself feel pretty, the space around you is reflecting the same idea.

what a great space to get yourself ready for your day… i’ve decided that i need to clear our bedroom this weekend of everyone else’s stuff… we’ve slowly been accumulating kids’ books/toys/clothes and things gathered from other rooms (you know the last ditch try to clean before company and everything lands in the bedroom!) that have yet to be put away. it is a constant reminder of things i need to do – first thing in the morning and last thing at night! i also am craving a sense of order and “place” – that takes me to my closet… clear out and organize! it’s the one place in the house that is “mine” (well, mine and the cat’s) – a place for my clothes and some sweet momentos… ahhh!

Love this! I need a little more JOY in my “work space”…no Feng Shui there (-: Hopefully that will change in the weeks to come.
